I'm reading an interesting book on the tricks that our minds play on us. I think I'm learning not to trust anything I think, believe, or conclude. But what of that....
I came across the following deeply insightful (!) and humorous comment in the book. After years of study and undoubtedly many federal research dollars:

Dawes showed that marital stability is well predicted by a formula:
frequency of lovemaking minus frequency of quarrels
You don't want your result to be a negative number.

I once knew a married couple (in their early thirties) who couldn't get sexually interested in each other unless they first had a fight. They are no longer married to each other.
