Shipping

Do you spend a lot of time worrying and wondering about the world of commercial shipping? Do you toss and turn at night, unable to sleep because you can't remember whether the total tonnage moving through the Panama Canal is more or less than that rounding the Cape of Good Hope? Whether Hong Kong or Singapore is the larger port? What route the freighters and tankers take from Rotterdam to Rio?

Well, good news, you can now relax. Take a look at this great map of the world's shipping lanes and ports for answers to all kinds of questions you didn't even know you had.

Credits: I found the map on a blog called The Big Picture by Barry Ritholz. Barry got it from the website of Nicolas Rapp who does information design.
